Claims Funding Australia backs landmark New Zealand class action

Claims Funding Australia is funding a class action in New Zealand against Southern Response insurers. The class action is on behalf of homeowners in the Canterbury region whose homes were damaged in the February 2011 earthquake.

The class action alleges that Southern Response misled and underpaid policy holders for claims relating to earthquake damage.

The potential NZD $300 million action is being run by GCA Lawyers, a Christchurch based law firm, and is being funded by Claims Funding Australia, who are in turn backed and wholly owned by Australia’s most successful class actions firm Maurice Blackburn.

Registrations of interest for the class action are now open.
